Mediation of Family Law Issues
Divorce mediation is a private and confidential process designed to help you and your spouse reach a solution. Both of you will meet with a neutral mediator and work through the issues until you reach an agreement that allows the two of you to go through with your divorce, without the expense of formal litigation.
Mediation is flexible and confidential. The mediator remains neutral, and advises both spouses about the law regarding their issues. This provides an atmosphere where each spouse is able to negotiate with each other, as they are working with the same base of information. The process takes far less time, and couples are able to negotiate an agreement that works for both parties.
Mediation involves the resolution of all legal issues in divorce, including:
Mediation is a voluntary process, and you or your spouse can withdraw at any time. There are no secrets in mediation. You may, and are encouraged to have your own separate counsel to review and advise you independently throughout the process.
Choice of Mediation Model:
* Couples only, subject to outside attorney review
* Personal representation during mediation process
* Assigned Mediator for couples and their attorneys
The advantage of mediation is that it keeps you and your spouse in control of your own divorce, without conflict. This results in resolving your issues and allowing both of you to move on in less time, with less expense then fighting it out in court. Mediation is about working out work differences with a knowledgeable professional.
